REVIVAL THROUGH BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT (SERMON OUTLINE)
by Virtual Preacher ~ July 22nd, 2008
- William J. Seymour was a blind African American preacher who had a thirst for revival.
- April 14th 1906 the revival broke out under his leadership and continued till 1915.
- The cause for this revival was a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
- Today this event is identified as Azusa street revival and it has been followed by many other movements of revival.
- How shall we expect the revival to break out in our churches also?
By seeking to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
But Why? Let me show you 3 reasons.
1. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is every believer’s privilege
- It’s the promise of the Father for every Christian, (Joel 2:28)
- It is a key ingredient for becoming an active Christian, (Acts 1:8)
2. The Spirit baptism transforms you
- From a coward Christian becomes a bold Christian, (Mark 14:53-72, Mark 14:27-31)
- The Spirit empowers you for witnessing, (Acts 2:37, Acts 2:41)
3. The Spirit baptism gives you the power do the impossible, (Acts 3:1-6)
- John and Peter was able to see beyond the visible situation.
- The crippled beggar was healed.
Conclusion
- Initially the revival must break out in the church.
- There is no revival without a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
- Therefore every Christian is ought to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
